Francesco Bellina. Fawohodie

Luoghi: Chiesa Madre / Grande Cretto, Gibellina

Fawohodie – a term that evokes independence and freedom – is a photographic exhibition that links the urban transformation of Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana, with public art practices and urban regeneration. Photographer Francesco Bellina shows how, through interaction between artists, public space and communities, urban contexts can be transformed, opening up new economic, social and cultural perspectives. The example of contemporary Ghanaian artists thus becomes a mirror through which to look at the possibilities for Gibellina and Belìce, emphasising the role of art as a catalyst for cultural tourism and as a tool for revitalising declining or neglected spaces.
