Event details

MAC - Museo d'Arte Contemporanea "Ludovico Corrao" edited by Andrea Cusumano The MAC – Ludovico Corrao Museum of Contemporary Art presents Macerie, Liu Bolin's new project, born from photographs taken during performances conducted by the artist in Gibellina and the Belice region in June 2026. World-renowned as The Invisible Man, Liu Bolin has been using his own body as a camouflage surface for over twenty years to interrogate the relationship between the individual and society, presence and absence, memory and identity. The progressive disappearance of the human figure in space is not a simple exercise in visual illusionism, but a tool through which to reflect on the meaning of places and the relationship between humans and the context they inhabit. In Gibellina, the artist selected several emblematic locations in the new city and the ruins of Poggioreale, transforming them into the backdrop for a series of performative actions. The photographs taken during those performances now provide a unique cycle of images in which the body merges with the surfaces, colors, and architecture of a landscape profoundly affected by the memory of the earthquake. Exhibition period: October 17 - December 10.
