Sislej Xhafa – Le ombre

Kosovar artist Sislej Xhafa, known for his essential conceptual works that are deeply rooted in their context, has created a project dedicated to the elderly residents of Gibellina. His sculptures are based on the shadows cast by these residents, recorded in the town's squares and public spaces. These silhouettes become three-dimensional forms that populate the Sistema delle Piazze, transforming it into a sort of negative “collective portrait”. The project symbolically mends the rift between the city of people and the city of architecture, bringing back to the centre the bodies that experienced its reconstruction.
