Dialoghi di una vita. Omaggio a Peppe Morra

Curated by Andrea Cusumano and Antonio Leone

The exhibition, in collaboration with the Fondazione Morra in Naples, pays tribute to Peppe Morra – gallery owner, collector, producer, festival creator and publisher – a key figure in Italian and international contemporary art. His collection, which gave rise to the Fondazione Morra, the Hermann Nitsch Museum Laboratory, Casa Shimamoto, Casa Morra – Contemporary Art Archive at Palazzo Cassano Ayerbo d'Aragona and the art citadel project in Caggiano, is one of the most extraordinary examples of private collecting in Italy. On display, among others, are Allan Kaprow's famous “six rooms”, Hermann Nitsch's “wrecks”, works by Günther Brus, the Fluxus experiences of Dick Higgins, Charlotte Moorman and Geoffrey Hendricks, works by John Cage, Gina Pane, Julian Beck and the Living Theatre, Joseph Beuys, Marina Abramović, the Japanese Gutai group – with particular attention to Shozo Shimamoto – and Luca Maria Patella and Vettor Pisani. The project draws a parallel between Morra's experience and that of Ludovico Corrao: two visions that, in the south of the country, have been able to build cultural centrality through contemporary art.
