Gibellina Italian Capital of Contemporary Art

Curated by Fondazione Orestiadi and Soprintendenza ai BB.CC. di Trapani, in collaborazione with Comune di Gibellina The Soprintendenza ai Beni Culturali di Trapani and the Fondazione Orestiadi present an exhibition that anticipates and introduces the programme of Gibellina Italian Capital of Contemporary Art. Through objects, documents and works, the exhibition traces some crucial stages in the recent history of the city of Belìce: from the construction of Alberto Burri's Grande Cretto to Mimmo Paladino's Montagna di sale, from Arnaldo Pomodoro's models of stage machinery for the Orestiadi to the objects in the Museo delle Trame Mediterranee, which bear witness to Sicily as a crossroads of cultures and a place of encounter and exchange.
